Front is VW narrowed 1.5 inches, fabricated hub, flat steel drilled to match rear weld one side only to stop warp, certified for tubeless tyre cost me $150au in 1991, handled great without need for link, wish I still had it last I heard it was on back of xs650 outfit.
See the Blue thing in background, thats a honda ZOT it was cut down and used as sidecar on this bike shortly after photo taken, don't have any photo's unfortunatley but it was to heavy to be practical.

Ithink your design concept is sensational I am shure that the space utilization will easily double your touring range I would have used a smooth European style long seat a set of spoke wheels with polished spokes4/1exwebb cams will give you +30 horses nice
